Among the 109 temples dedicated to Muchilottu Bhagavathi across Kannur district, the Kunnavu temple near Chirakkal Pallikkunnu is considered the most prominent. The annual Theyyam Thira Kaliyattam festival spans four days in the Malayalam month of Dhanu, featuring Muchilottu Bhagavathi Theyyam as the central performance, along with Kannangattu Bhagavathy, Puliyoor Kali, and Narambil Bhagavathy. The temple's significance derives from its direct connection to the Muchilottu legend — the Brahmin girl who mastered the Vedas, was falsely accused, and was resurrected by Shiva with divine powers.
