Andalur Kavu

Believed to have been established by Sage Parasurama, Andalur Kavu contains two sacred sites — Mele Kavu (upper temple) and Thazhe Kavu (lower temple). According to legend, when Lord Rama broke Shiva's bow during Sita Swayamvaram, a spark from the broken bow fell at Thazhe Kavu and split into three. Sage Narada instructed Parasurama to install three deities representing Daivathar (Rama), Angakkaran (Lakshmana), and Bappuran (Hanuman). This is one of the rare places where the Yuddha Kanda of the Ramayana is visualised and performed through Theyyam. The seven-day Kaliyattam in February draws thousands, with over ten Theyyam forms based on the Ramayana epic performed here. The temple also hosts a museum showcasing historical artefacts and life-size Theyyam idols.
