The Narambil family was devastated by a wasting disease that struck its children. The matriarch prayed in the forest for seven days. On the seventh dawn, a woman appeared carrying medicinal herbs, healed every child by nightfall, and said: 'I am the Bhagavathi of this soil. Plant these herbs at your land's boundary, and I will reside among them.' The herbal garden became the seed of the Narambil Kavu.

The performance includes a unique healing segment. After the main dance, the performer places hands on the heads of those seeking healing, delivering herbal prescriptions while in trance. The face painting uses warm amber and green tones. Medicinal leaves are woven into the costume, and crushed herbs are burned as offerings.
