Kodallur Palaprath Temple near Parassinikadavu holds a singular place in the Theyyam tradition as the only venue where Padikutty Amma Theyyam is performed. Padikutty Amma is one of the exceedingly rare Theyyam forms where the performer is a woman — in a tradition that is almost entirely male-performed. According to local legend, Padikutty Amma was a devout woman of extraordinary spiritual power who protected the village from calamities. After her passing, she was deified and her spirit is invoked annually through this unique Theyyam. The temple also hosts other Theyyam forms during its annual festival, but it is the Padikutty Amma performance that draws the most attention from scholars and devotees alike.
